A woman who died after being struck by a car in Lancashire was the "life and soul of the party", her family said.

Irene Salmon, 62, was walking along Bengal Street in Chorley on 23 March when she was hit by a Peugeot 106.

She was taken to Chorley Hospital but died later. A 20-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Mrs Salmon's family issued a statement, describing her as "young at heart".

They added: "She lived life to the full, was caring and was always the life and soul of any party.

"She loved her family and friends and loved jetting off abroad."
