Burnley assault victim 'critically ill'

A 48-year-old man who was found unconscious in a front garden with a fractured skull was the victim of a serious assault, police have said.

Lancashire Police said the man from Burnley was critically ill in the Royal Preston Hospital.

He was found unconscious in the front garden of a house Standen Hall Drive, Brierfield, Burnley on Friday.

A 17-year-old boy from Burnley has been arrested on suspicion causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A police spokesman said the injured man was seen in Burnley town centre earlier in the day, but it was not know how he came to be in Brierfield.
