Girl, 16, attacked by gang after Blackpool party

A 16-year-old girl was attacked by a gang of teenagers after an argument at a house party in Blackpool.

Police said the girl was punched, kicked and spat at by a number of boys and girls at the house on Montrose Avenue in the early hours of Saturday.

She fled but was chased along Central Drive, where the attack continued until a passer-by stopped to intervene.

Lancashire Police described it as a "nasty and sustained" attack and appealed for witnesses.

Dog walkers sought

A man who was passing in a white van took her home to safety and she was later treated for cuts and bruising at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Pc James Ellis said: "This was a nasty and sustained assault on a defenceless young girl."

Officers want to speak to two people who were walking a boxer-type dog in the area at the time of the attack, as well as the van driver.

"These three people may well be able to provide us with information which could be crucial to this investigation and I would urge them to come forward," he added.
