Phone lines damaged by Preston lightning strike

A telegraph pole was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm in Preston.

The strike hit a pole on Castle Fold, Penwortham, damaging the internal phone sockets of three houses on the small road off Leyland Road.

It happened as the area was hit by heavy rain and thunder in the early hours of Saturday.

Lancashire Fire Service attended the incident but there was no further damage reported.
