A man who drowned after being swept into the sea by a large wave at Blackpool was a 44-year-old from Loughborough, police have said.

Ian Walker had been standing on the sea wall near Cocker Square on Saturday when he was dragged into the water.

The coastguard, RNLI lifeboats and a RAF helicopter were sent to the scene and plucked him from the water.

Mr Walker, originally from London, was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital but died shortly afterwards.
