Woman hit by chair in Blackpool bar brawl

Police are seeking a woman who was hit with a chair as she walked past a fight outside a bar in Blackpool.

The woman was with a child when she walked past the Merrie England bar on 9 April.

Police are seeking a group of 40 men from the West Midlands who they believe were involved in the disturbance.

The group then went to Harry Ramsden's where they became involved in another fight. Five men, aged between 28 and 44, have been arrested and bailed.

'Plenty of people'

Two men, one of them a doorman, were assaulted in the first disturbance outside Merrie England bar.

Det Con Simon Gray said: "We will absolutely not tolerate people coming into the town and causing trouble.

"This was a warm, sunny day in Blackpool and I'm sure there would have been plenty of people in the area. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed any of these disturbances to contact police.

"In particular I am keen to speak with the lady who was with a young child who was hit by a chair outside the Merrie England. If this was you or you know this lady please contact police."

A 44-year-old man, from Wolverhampton, was held on suspicion of section 47 assault. The other four, from Bilston and Wolverhampton, were arrested on suspicion of affray.
