A cannabis factory believed to be worth about £300,000 to drug dealers has been uncovered in Blackburn.

Officers found 600 plants, each with an estimated street value of £500, in a house along with a heating, lighting, watering and air filtration system.

It was uncovered when Lancashire Police entered the property on Bolton Road earlier.

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Sgt Paul Schofield said the raid followed tip-offs from members of the local community.

"It was a highly sophisticated set-up and is one of the most substantial finds in Blackburn in recent times," he added.

"Lancashire's residents can now be reassured that a substantial amount of cannabis is off the streets."
