Man accused of Blackpool Promenade sex attack

A Lancashire man has been charged with sexual assault following an attack on a 19-year-old woman on Blackpool Promenade.

Police were called to reports of an assault on a woman from Manchester outside Harry Ramsden's fish and chip restaurant at 0330 BST on Friday.

A 37-year-old man from Thornton-Cleveleys has been charged and remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates' Court later.

Police have appealed for a group of three men, who they believe walked past during the assault, to contact them.

The men were walking in a southerly direction and were followed a short distance by the victim, police said.
