The principal and vice-principal at a college in Preston have been suspended after unions complained about staff treatment over planned redundancies.

Principal Stephen Pegg and his deputy Lynne Caddick, of Cardinal Newman Catholic Sixth Form College in Preston, are suspended pending an inquiry.

The college needs to make savings of £500,000 and is cutting up to 14 jobs.

The second biggest teaching union the NASUWT said it hoped to ballot staff on industrial action over their treatment.

Some staff have alleged that they have been bullied and harassed by managers.
