Vandals cause Fleetwood repair firm Nitratec to move

A truck repair firm in Fleetwood is moving after suffering vandalism and theft estimated at £11,000 in the past year.

Nitratec has had three articulated trailers stolen, cars damaged, diesel and copper taken and windows smashed.

The owner said it took two hours each morning to clean up at the premises on Harbour Trading Estate.

Lancashire Police are investigating three incidents at the site, but the firm plans to relocate later this week.

'Ghost town'

Company owner David Butler said: "Being a Fleetwood person, I wanted the business to be set up here.

"We started the business here and it is upsetting to see us move.

"There were other car repair businesses. They couldn't afford to leave customers' cars outside because they would come in in the morning and they've got damage or theft.

"They too have moved to other areas. It leaves the industrial estate a little bit of a ghost town."

The company is to move to more secure premises four miles from its current site.
