West Lancashire Council cuts Ormskirk parking charges

Car parking charges have been cut in a Lancashire town to encourage more shoppers.

The long stay car park at West Lancashire Borough Council offices in Ormskirk will drop from £10 to £3.

Thirty minute parking will remain free, said the council. More spaces are to be made available to the public as council staff are relocated.

Ormskirk Town Centre Manager Colin Brady said: "We're trying to do what we can to boost the local economy."

He added: "The town centre businesses are struggling in the current economic climate."
