Body found at Clough Bottom Reservoir in Rossendale

A man's body has been discovered at a reservoir in Lancashire.

Lancashire Police said the body had been found at about 1630 BST on Saturday at Clough Bottom Reservoir on Burnley Road East in Rossendale.

A police spokesman said the death was being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem test was due to be done.

Det Supt Neil Hunter said: "It is difficult to say how long the body has been in the reservoir but we believe it has been there for the last few days."

He added: "I am aware that this is a popular area for dog walkers, ramblers and people exercising.

"As such I would appeal to anybody who may have visited the area in the last few days who may have seen anything unusual or out of place to contact police.

"Particularly given the lighter evenings, I would urge anybody who has been in the area who may have noticed an individual or a vehicle or both which seemed suspicious to come forward."
