Edenfield abandoned baby claim: No charges for woman

No action will be taken against a woman who claimed a baby had been abandoned by the side of a road in Lancashire.

Police began a major search after receiving a report that a newborn child had been dumped on the outskirts of Edenfield, on 10 May.

Officers found a blood-stained blanket in a bag in Rochdale Road but there was no trace of the baby or mother.

A woman, 28, from Bury in Greater Manchester, who was arrested and bailed, was released without charge.
