A 49-year-old motorcyclist has died after his vehicle was involved in a collision with a car in Preston.

Gordon Scott, from Freckleton, died at the scene of the crash at the junction of Penwortham Way and Chain House Lane in Whitestake at 22:25 BST on Thursday.

His Yamaha motorcycle and a Vauxhall Zafira minicab which was travelling in the opposite direction collided.

The car driver, a 64-year-old man from Ingol, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed until November. Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Mr Scott's family said: "Gordon was a dearly loved husband, father, son and friend. His passion was classic motorcycles and their restoration. He also was a huge Elvis Presley fan.

"Gordon was extremely kind and caring, and would always help someone in need."

They added: "He was the best dad ever and we'll always have him in our minds. We had little arguments but we always loved him and know he always loved us too."
