Baby death: Teenage couple charged with murder

A teenage couple have appeared before magistrates in Lancaster charged with murdering a four-month-old boy.

The baby was admitted to Royal Lancaster Infirmary last November after he was found collapsed at his home in the Scotforth area of Lancaster.

He was transferred to Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital with a bleed to the brain but died a few days later.

Christopher Roberts and Karen Irvine, both 18, of Penrith, were remanded in custody.

The pair, who are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child, are due to appear before Preston Crown Court on Friday.
