Appeal after man dies in M58 crash

Police have appealed for information after a 26-year-old man was found dead in his car after apparently careering down an embankment off the M58.

Officers responded to reports that a car was in a field close to Junction 3, at 02:30 BST.

The car, a black Peugeot 308, had apparently left the carriageway, gone down an embankment and crashed through a fence before rolling several times.

The driver, from Formby, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police believe there were no other vehicles involved in the incident and have asked anyone with any information to contact them.
