Darwen waste site plans 'could create 30 jobs'
A £5m waste recycling centre planned for Darwen could create about 30 jobs, the firm behind it has said.
SITA UK aims to create a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at the site of the former inkmaker Wolstenholme International in Lower Eccleshill Road.
Annually the site would sort up to 35,000 tonnes of mixed dry recyclables like plastic, cans, card and paper collected from Lancashire businesses.
Plans are due to be submitted to the council by the end of August.
The firm is proposing a facility which would allow most materials delivered to the site to be unloaded, sorted and baled within the MRF building. The tipping of glass would take place outdoors into a glass holding bay.
