Three Lancashire men in court over riot messages

Three men from Lancashire accused of posting messages on Facebook encouraging disorder or looting have appeared in court.

Two men, aged 19 and 28 and from Heysham and a third aged 21 from Lancaster, were charged following rioting across England last week.

They appeared before Lancaster magistrates on Friday and their cases were transferred to crown court.

They are due to appear at Preston Crown Court on 24 August.

A fourth man has also been charged over alleged Facebook messages.

The 26-year-old appeared at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on Monday and is due to appear before Preston Crown Court on 30 November.

The 19-year-old, who was charged with intentionally encouraging or assisting in the commission of an either way offence believing it would be committed, was not required to enter a plea.

The 21-year-old pleaded not guilty to intentionally encouraging or assisting in the commission of an either way offence believing it would be committed.

The 28-year-old pleaded not guilty to encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence.
