Hambleton crash: Man dies after car leaves road

A man has died after losing control of his car in north-west Lancashire.

The driver, believed to be in his 70s, was driving his Nissan X-Trail along the A588 in Hambleton at 13:35 BST on Sunday when he left the road.

The car ended up at the junction with Green Meadow Lane. The driver was taken to hospital in Blackpool where he died.

In a separate incident, two bikers were hurt when their motorcycles crashed on the A59 in Bretherton on Sunday. One man lost a leg in the crash.

The 48-year-old man, from Liverpool, came off his bike at about 16:20 BST.

His left leg was severed at the knee, police said.

The other rider, 36, and also from Liverpool, suffered a fractured foot.

Lancashire police have appealed to anyone with information to contact the force.
