Man suffers burns in car arson attack in Stretford

A 25-year-old man suffered burns to his hands and face in an arson attack on his wife's car in Trafford.

Emergency services were called to an address on Davyhulme Road East in Stretford after a red ford Fiesta was set alight.

Police said the man's wife had earlier been racially abused by a group of men outside their home.

The man suffered burns when he went out to investigate and was treated in hospital, a police spokesman said.

He remains in a stable condition in hospital following the incident at 03:00 on Sunday.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the arson attack, or the woman being subjected to racial abuse, to contact them.
