Fire breaks out on Skelmersdale industrial estate

Firefighters are damping down at the scene of a blaze on an industrial estate in Skelmersdale.

Crews were called to the building off Pimbo Road just after midnight and were still at the scene at 10:00 BST.

A 200m cordon was put in place over fears that four acetylene cylinders at the scene could explode.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said nearby industrial units were evacuated but there were no reports of people trapped or any injuries.

A spokesman said firefighters were using thermal imaging cameras to check the temperature of the gas inside the cylinders to make sure they were safe.
