St Annes sex attack 'did not happen'

Detectives investigating an accusation of sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl in Lancashire have established the attack did not take place.

The girl had told police she was walking along St David's Road South in St Annes between 11:45 and 12:30 BST on Thursday when she was attacked.

Police issued an appeal, urging anyone with any information to contact them.

On Monday, a spokesman said the attack had not taken place and no further action would be taken.
