Alcohol seized from young park drinkers in Lancashire

More than 100 bottles and cans of beer and alcopops were seized from under-age drinkers in Lancashire this summer.

Police took the drinks from young people found drinking at parks in Kirkham and Wesham.

They were patrolling the areas following complaints of anti-social behaviour from some local residents.

The force said anyone under-age and with alcohol had it seized, before they were given a youth referral notice and their parents were told.

Sgt Niamh O'Donoghue, neighbourhood policing officer, said: "A lot of reports of anti-social behaviour and crime are fuelled by alcohol, which is why we will continue cracking down on those who sell, or give, alcohol to people who are under age.

"We are keen to keep the momentum going, especially up to and including the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

"I would also like to warn youngsters that they could face arrest if they are drunk in a public place and are acting in a disorderly manner."
