Water supplies have been restored to hundreds of homes in Accrington after a mains burst.

Homes, schools and businesses were without water for more than 48 hours, after the burst in the Burnley Road area of Clayton-le-Moors on Tuesday.

United Utilities said a vital part needed for the repair arrived on Thursday evening and supplies were returned gradually overnight.

They warned that there may still be low pressure in some areas until Sunday.

Judy Taylor, water asset performance director, said: "About 30 network engineers have been working on shifts for 72 hours."
