Accrington warehouse fire treated as suspicious

A fire which broke out at a disused furniture warehouse in Accrington is being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews were called to the blaze, which broke out in a group of unoccupied buildings on Cannon Street, just before 19:00 BST on Friday.

A group of children having a party at a nearby community centre had to be moved to safety as properties in the surrounding area were evacuated.

A joint police and fire investigation is under way.

Cannon Street was closed between the Church Street junction and the Eagle Street junction while the area was made safe.
