Blackburn man held over pedestrian's death

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car and killed in Lancashire.

The local man in his 30s was was crossing Barbara Castle Way near Blackburn town centre when he was struck by an Audi saloon at 00:35 BST.

He was taken to the Royal Blackburn hospital but died soon after.

The car driver, who is also from Blackburn, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
