Collision closes M6 southbound near Preston

Drivers are being urged to avoid the M6 in Lancashire after a crash closed the southbound carriageway at Preston.

Lancashire Police said a male motorcyclist was in collision with at least two other vehicles at junction 30 at about 17:00 GMT.

The motorway was closed for an hour while emergency services attended.

Two lanes of the motorway remain closed in the same spot in the opposite direction following a tanker spillage which happened at about 10:20 GMT.

The spillage closed all four lanes of the motorway on Tuesday morning but two lanes later reopened.

In a third incident, a 41-year-old motorcyclist from Burnley was killed when his bike and a car collided near the M6 and M65 interchange at about 07:30 GMT.
