Peter Sarchet named as motorcyclist killed in M65 crash

A motorcyclist who died after his bike was involved in a collision with a car near the M6 and M65 interchange on Tuesday has been named.

Peter Sarchet, 41, from Worsthorne, Burnley, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital after the crash at about 07:30 GMT, but died from his injuries.

The M6 was closed in both directions at junction 29 and junction one of the M65 until 11:30 GMT after the accident.

A police investigation into the cause of the crash is under way.

Sgt Lee Campbell said: "At this stage it is not entirely clear what has happened and so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward if they have any information that could help with our investigation."
