A man has been jailed for life after pleading guilty to the murder of a 22-year-old man, who died after being attacked in a Lancashire car park.

Ryan Livesey died in hospital six days after being beaten about the head by Kyle Kay, 25, of Whitehead Street, Blackburn, Preston Crown Court heard.

Mr Livesey was found by passers-by lying in a car park off Paradise Lane at midnight on 15 April.

Kay was told by the judge that he must serve at least 13 years and 10 months.

Speaking after the sentence Det Insp Mark Rothwell said: "I am pleased that Kay has chosen to plead guilty today, preventing Ryan's family from having to go through the ordeal of a trial and being faced with some incredibly upsetting evidence.

"Our thoughts are with Ryan's family at this difficult time and I hope today's sentence will bring them some small comfort as they continue to come to terms with their loss."
