Council turns off bus information signs to save money

Lancashire County Council is to turn off electronic bus information signs to save money.

At the start of December, the screens will be switched off at bus stations and interchanges in Burnley, Chorley, Lancaster, Nelson and Skelmersdale.

The decision has been taken by the county council as part of wider plans to save £179m over the next three years.

It said turning off the screens would save £47,000.

The county council said it would continue to provide bus timetable information on posters at stations and interchanges.

Timetables will also still be available over the internet, by text message, mobile internet or by phone.
