Teenager struck by car in Burnley is critically ill

A 17-year-old youth is in a critical condition after he was hit by a car in Lancashire.

The teenager was struck by a silver Vauxhall Corsa as he crossed Parliament Street at the junction of Oxford Road in Burnley at 19:15 GMT on Monday.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with serious head injuries where he is said to be critical.

The road was closed for three-and-a-half hours while accident investigators were at the scene.

Lancashire police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
