Fire crews remain at Fleetwood waste plant blaze

Fire crews are damping down at the scene of a blaze at a recycling works in Lancashire.

A large amount of plastic waste caught fire at Wyre Waste Management on Jameson Road, Fleetwood, causing smoke to drift over the area.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started at about 17:00 GMT on Sunday and burnt well into the evening.

A spokesman said the cause of the fire was not yet known but arson was not being ruled out.

The site was previously damaged by fire in December 2009 and April 2010.
