Man charged with assault after Darwen alley assault

A 42-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault after a man was found lying in a Lancashire alleyway.

The 36-year-old was found with facial injuries, frostbite and suffering from hypothermia.

He was discovered between Snape Street and Preston Street in Darwen at 08:00 GMT on Saturday after residents heard groaning noises, police said.

David Kealey of Snape Street, Darwen, has been charged with assault by beating and causing actual bodily harm.

He will appear at Blackburn Magistrates' Court later.
