Bedroom cannabis 'factory' found in Nelson

Police have discovered a "cannabis factory" in an upstairs bedroom of a house in Lancashire.

About 500 plants, with an estimated street value of about £200,000, were found in the house on Every Street, Nelson, on Tuesday.

Lancashire Police also seized equipment including lighting and fans from the house.

Det Insp Martin Melvin said the raid "should have a significant impact on the supply of cannabis in the area".

"This was a very sophisticated set up - the plants had clearly been there for some time and were ready to flood the streets of Nelson," he said.

"I hope this reassures people we do listen to their concerns and will act on information we receive.

"I urge anyone with information or concerns about cannabis to contact the police."
