Man on fake firearm charge after Penwortham siege

A man has been charged with firearms offences following a 12-hour siege at a house near Preston.

Armed officers surrounded the house on Kingsfold Drive, Penwortham, shortly after 10:00 GMT on Tuesday, with a team of police negotiators.

A 57-year-old has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Chorley Magistrates Court later.
