Buried cannabis farm found in Lancashire

Two shipping containers filled with cannabis and buried underground have been discovered by police in Lancashire.

The containers, which were filled with 500 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of around £200,000, were found under a garage on Haslingden Old Road, Knuzden, on Wednesday.

Four men, aged 16, 31, 41 and 43 have been arrested.

Det Insp Neil Ashton said it was "a very professional set up".

Police were tipped off to the existence of the farm by an anonymous caller.

Mr Ashton said "two huge shipping containers had been buried behind the wall and under the soil".

"We managed to gain access through a hole in the wall which was hidden behind some shelving - it was a very professional set up," he said.

"I have no doubt this will have a significant impact on the supply of cannabis across East Lancashire."
