Ribble Valley metal thieves are 'risking lives'

Metal thieves cutting down overhead electricity cables in rural Lancashire putting lives at risk for scrap metal, said Electricity North West.

Police confirmed there have been three incidents of metal thefts in the past four days in the Ribble Valley.

In the latest incident on Tuesday 100 metres (328ft) of overhead copper cable was stolen in Ribchester.

Thieves are thought to now be targeting more remote areas in the county because they are less likely to get caught.
