Four men arrested in immigration raids on the Fylde

Four men have been arrested in a crackdown on illegal working in Lancashire.

Officers from the Border Agency arrested a 25-year-old when they raided a newsagents in Blackpool on Wednesday.

They arrested another 25-year-old at a takeaway in the town on Thursday, and two men, aged 25 and 30, at an Indian restaurant in Thornton on the same day.

None of them had the right to work in the UK and three are now due to be deported, said the agency.

The fourth was released on immigration bail.

Simon Cahill, head of enforcement for the UK Border Agency in the North West, said: "We will not tolerate illegal working, which undercuts wages and can exploit vulnerable workers.

"The UK Border Agency is also targeting employers. We are happy to work with businesses and advise what checks need to be carried out on staff, but those who do break the law should know that they will face heavy fines."
