Man hit by lorry on M55 motorway near Preston is named

A man who died after being hit by a lorry on the M55 motorway when his vehicle broke down on the hard shoulder has been named by police.

Anthony Crossthwaite, 66, from Fulwood in Preston, was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital where he died.

Two lanes of the westbound carriageway at Junction 1 near Preston were closed for four hours on Wednesday.

Officers want to trace the driver of a vehicle that may have left the hard shoulder as the HGV pulled on to it.
