Corby man injured in Lancashire hit-and-run crash

A 44-year-old man from Northamptonshire was seriously injured after being hit by a car as he walked along a road in Lancashire in the early hours.

Lancashire Police said the man was hit by a car which failed to stop on the A586 Garstang Road between Poulton and Great Eccleston just before 01:00 BST.

He was found lying at the side of the road by a couple.

The man, who was from Corby, suffered back injuries and is serious but stable in the Royal Preston Hospital.

Officers believe the man was hit from behind as he walked towards Great Eccleston on a stretch of road just past the Windy Harbour Traffic Lights.

Sgt Jon Allwright, from the force road policing unit, said: "The vehicle involved in this collision would have sustained damage, in particular to its bumper and front left indicator."
