Two people arrested over the death of a child who suffered internal injuries "caused by violence" have been released on police bail.

Three-year-old Lia Green was pronounced dead on arrival at Royal Preston Hospital after paramedics were called to her Norris Street home on Thursday.

A man, 22, and a woman, 20, were arrested on suspicion of murder.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries and are due to report back to police on 16 October.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said the investigation into her death was centring around her family.

The post-mortem examination revealed the injuries to the child were caused by violence, police said.

The force said it was investigating the events in the days leading up to her death and that the three-year-old's family were a "key part" of that investigation.
