Two men have been jailed for life for the murder of a man whose body was found on the beach at Blackpool.

Leslie Bertram, 44, from Blackpool, was found between Central and South Pier in the early hours of 16 June.

Post-mortem tests showed he died from injuries sustained in an assault.

At Preston Crown Court, Colin Dugdale, 27, of Lytham Road and Paul Thompson, 43, of Woodfield Road, both Blackpool, were told they must serve a minimum term of 14 years.

Det Insp Martin Clague from Lancashire Police said: "This was a brutal attack on a man who was assaulted and left for dead on the beach.

"Neither man has shown any remorse for what they have done and I am pleased at both the verdict and the sentence, which reflects the gravity of this heinous crime."
