Manchester men charged over pitchfork attack in Poulton

Four men have been charged after two people were attacked with a pitchfork and a spade in a Lancashire street.

Police were called to Breck Road in Poulton at about 10:25 BST on Wednesday following reports of an attack on two men, who were doing gardening work.

One had teeth knocked out while the other was stabbed in his arm. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspects, all from Manchester and aged 27, 28, 42 and 53, were arrested after their car was stopped on the M6.

All four were charged with two counts of wounding with intent and one count of criminal damage and will appear before Blackpool Magistrates on Friday.

Det Insp Beverley Foster said the 43 and 48-year-old victims were from Manchester.

She said it was "a serious incident which happened in broad daylight in the middle of a residential street".
