Blackpool alley murder charge dropped against man

A man accused of murdering a man found unconscious in a Blackpool alleyway has had the charge dropped.

Jack Tindall, 21, of Bedford Road, Blackpool, has admitted wounding James Whitelaw and will be sentenced on 10 June at Preston Crown Court.

Mr Whitelaw, 46, died on 28 November five days after he was found injured behind Regent Road.

A second man, Frank McCartney, 43, of Banks Street, Blackpool, faces a charge of murdering Mr Whitelaw.

Mr McCartney is due to appear at Preston Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 15 July.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Whitelaw, who was originally from Glasgow, died after being hit on the head with a blunt object.
