Student killed walking on M65 near Burnley was 'much loved'

The family of a Lancashire student killed when she was hit by a van while walking on the motorway has said she will be "deeply missed".

Lena Begum, from Higher Reedley, near Nelson, was struck on the M65 eastbound carriageway near Burnley at about 04:00 BST on Wednesday.

In a statement, her family said the 18-year-old was "very much loved by all her family".

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

The family said: "Her passing will leave a big hole in the family."

The driver of the van, a 48-year-old man from Burnley, was treated at the scene for shock.
