Five people rescued from Clayton le Moors flats fire

Five people, including a baby, had to be rescued from a fire which destroyed part of a flats complex in Lancashire.

The fire broke out at about 18:04 BST on Saturday at an address in Rutland Close, Clayton le Moors, near Accrington.

Some of the rescued people were taken down ladders from the first floor of the flats. None were seriously hurt and all were treated at the scene.

A communal area was badly damaged by the heat and smoke.
