Clayton le Moors flats fire: Arson probe after five escape

A fire in a block of flats in Lancashire from which five people including a baby escaped is being investigated as possible arson.

The fire broke out at about 18:00 BST on Saturday at a flat in Rutland Close, Clayton-le-Moors, near Accrington.

Firefighters led people down ladders from a first-floor balcony. No-one was needed hospital treatment.

Arson has not been ruled out as a cause of the fire. A joint police and fire service investigation is under way.
