A man's body has been recovered from a public park in Lancashire, police have confirmed.

Officers were called to the riverbank in Avenham Park, near to Preston city centre, at around 15:30 BST.

Detectives said they have started an investigation after recovering a body from the River Ribble.

Officers are working to confirm the identity of the man and the circumstances surrounding the his death.
