A man from Blackpool has died in hospital a day after the car he was driving crashed into two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

Peter Dodd was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the collision in Yeadon Way, near the Ashworth Road roundabout, at 13:00 BST on Wednesday.

His Renault Clio hit a Peugeot 207 and then an Alfa Romeo saloon, police said.

Officers said a couple in the saloon, from Coventry, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot and his wife, who are from Scotland and were in Blackpool on holiday, were unhurt.

Mr Dodd, who lived in Central Drive, Blackpool, was heading east in Yeadon Way when the collision happened.

Lancashire Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, in particular anyone who was following the Clio, to contact them.
