A man has been charged with throwing a missile that hit Queens Park Rangers footballer Joey Barton during a match against Burnley.

A plastic bottle struck the midfielder in the second half of the game at Burnley's Turf Moor on 26 October.

John Pounder, 26, of Cedar Avenue, Haslingden has been charged with throwing a missile on to a football playing area.

He has been bailed to appear at Burnley Magistrates' Court on 22 November.

Mr Pounder was also charged with a public order offence.
